Staying stylish while you train

So your first training session is booked…what to wear?!

The secret of getting ahead is getting started.

— Mark Twain.

So you maybe had a few too many slices of pizza or ice blended sugary coffee’s this summer and your jeans are a bit too tight. You have decided you are going to start fall in a big way and get back into shape! Congratulations!! That is sometimes the hardest part – committing to a new fitness routine and sticking to it! Now that your athletic training class or personal training session is on the books, you are probably asking yourself – “what do I wear?” The workout is going to be a challenge, the last thing you want to worry about is your outfit.

As an athlete myself, I have found that sticking to dark colors for an athletic training workout is best. You will most likely be using steps, weights, rowers, bands and other equipment that may have dirt or dust. It is the worst feeling to mark up your new light toned outfit on your first day of training. Save the pastel colors for your yoga studio sessions. Check out some of our favorite sets below. You will be sure to crush your fitness goals!

Coordinated training outfit set from Athleta

We are loving coordinated sets this season. Take the guess work out of looking and feeling put together even when you have 10 minutes to grab your water bottle and run out the door.

Flirty and Fierce

Are you trying to be the next Serena Williams? You probably have to take a few steps back and see what you’re going to need first before you can start winning all your matches! Making sure you have the right apparel is the best start. You can find many apparel options for tennis from different price points to different brands. Tennis is known for their creative and unique outfits on the court, so let’s help you choose your winning outfit!

Let’s start with your top, you can wear a shirt with or without sleeves but make sure the shirt does not interfere with your swing while hitting the ball. Polyester/spandex fabric is a great moisture-wicking fabric, to help absorb all that strong hitting sweat. Also, a sport bra that will feel secured and comfortable while running around the court.

For the bottoms you have more options, either putting on a skirt, shorts or both such as a skort.  Skirts can have many details like pleats or ruffles, to have a flirty look to them. If you want to have something more fitted to the body, shorts are a great way to go. If you want a feminine look, a skort allows you to feel cute but still have that fitted feeling.

If you’re trying to pick a quick outfit a dress is the way to go, it’s a no brainer. You can throw it on and go.

Are you ready to be flirty and fierce on the court? Get your racquet ready and start swinging hard! Catch us next time for more sport clothing tips!

Volleyball is My Passion & Spandex is My Fashion

Playing volleyball at the beach or indoors with your friends can be a fun workout session. Even if you decide to play or join a volleyball recreational league, you’ll need to wear the correct attire to feel comfortable and confident when you begin to play. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced player, here are some items to check out.

You’ll want to start off with a comfortable sports bra that gives you support and wicks moisture away to keep you cool and dry. Finding a sports bra that provides the appropriate support is important because of all the movement required in the sport, from jumping to running in the court. The next thing you’ll want to make sure you have are spandex shorts because fitted clothes are your best friends in volleyball. Fitted clothes allow movement without the clothes bothering you from so much movement.

One of the most important things to invest one are knee pads, ankle braces, and volleyball shoes. Unless you’re playing at the beach, you won’t necessarily need knee pads, but they are important when playing in the court because there are a lot of times where you’ll slide on your knees. An ankle brace are an option but they can help avoid getting injuries. Volleyball shoes are also important when playing indoors because they’ll allow for movement and stability during the game.

Now you’re ready to play on the court and at the beach. Stay active with us and come back next week to play another game! Let us know which ones are your favorite pieces on the comments below.

Cycle and Spin

Cycling is a great way to get your heart pumping and into a cardiovascular state. We love indoor cycling for the great playlists and stadium set up, cool lighting and movie theater atmosphere. Taking your mind and body on a journey for nearly an hour without actually going anywhere is incredibly satisfying and the perfect way in my opinion to start or end your day. Read on for our favorite studio cycling style.

Have fun with your style even when the intensity cranks up!

Sleek tights are the way to go for this type of workout. The last thing you want to choose is something loose that may get caught in your cycling shoes or in the bike. Choose tights that are sweat wicking with a compression design like these ones from Athleta or Lululemon below. Pair with a high neck sports bra and a fitted lightweight long sleeve top with thumbholes that will stay in place when you’re spinning. Of course we are all about style so go with pops of color like this beautiful blue or choose a fun print to stand out from the crowd.

It wouldn’t be a proper ride without the right footwear. Skip riding the bike with your sneakers when you check in for your spin class. Invest in a pair of cycling shoes that clip into the bike to bring them to your next class. This will create a whole new way to ride and engage the front of the legs as you will be one with the bike. I burn nearly 400 calories every time I spin and it’s thanks to these shoes! Yes! It is a total game changer. Plus, these ones are so fashion-forward in the hottest hues, you will feel amazing with every class.

Be prepared and ready with the perfect gym bag. You can keep your cycling shoes and water bottle in your trunk and be ready whenever you get off that popular class waitlist! Never miss another class again – you will always be ready. We love these with pops of color and a fun leopard print.

We hope you are inspired to reserve your bike for your next workout. What was your favorite piece you saw from this week? Comment below! Can’t wait to show you what we have for next week’s post, see you in spin class!

Fashion Knockout

Want to try something out of your comfort zone? Have you ever thought of throwing some punches? There’s a saying that says “boxing is cheaper than therapy”, boxing might help you let off some steam after a stressful week. I guarantee you, you’ll leave with knowing you had a great workout. Boxing is a full body workout, targeting every muscle in the body. It’s a high-intensity internal training that includes throwing punches, jumping rope, and squatting.

Finding the right and comfortable apparel is always important for new workouts. During a boxing workout you’ll have gloves on the most of the time so you won’t have mobility to keep rearranging your clothes. Make sure you have apparel that fits you correctly and won’t tug or sag down off your body. Society Nine Bia performance leggings are great for staying in place while you move. You also want breathable and absorbent fabrics because there will be a lot of sweating, such as the Nike Dri-FIT Legend short sleeve top.

Foot wear is also important so make sure your shoes have a smooth bottom, low heel and ankle support. Also for your workout you’ll need a pair of boxing gloves or boxing wraps. A headband is great to help keep your hair out of your way during your workout. Make sure to be prepared with a water bottle and a towel!

Now your ready to enter that ring! Give it your all before you throw in the towel. Find out next week for more tips about sweating in style!

UA Qualifier Storm Graphic Packable

A peachy color will brighten your mood and keep you optimistic about your new journey. Darker colors are great if you want to run in trails without getting too dirty. The color red pops out as energetic and determined. Having a mixture of colors in your activewear is great to enhance your mood and motivate you in your workout. You’ll want to look for a sports bra that gives you support and leggings that you feel comfortable in. You’ll also want a jacket in case it gets cold. Depending on what type of feet you have, you’ll search for shoes that give you the best comfort as well. The Adidas Senseboost Go shoes are great stability shoes for people who have a neutral foot type. The Gel-Flux 5 Asics are great motion control shoes for people who have a flat arch and need wider midsoles. The Nike Pegasus are cushioning shoes for those who need more support on the heel and forefoot area of their feet. Rendezvous with Romance

Take your next barre or yoga class with a touch of romantic ruffle, floral or pastel color for a fun feminine look. Inspired by classical ballet and trapeze artists, these looks will have you strutting to the studio in feminine style.

I can’t guarantee you will perform like a true ballerina but you will feel confident in class with sweat wicking fabric technology and flat seam construction. Say yes to that impromptu coffee invitation with your friends after class because these looks are great for both in and out of the gym. Top your look with a cashmere cardigan or jean jacket and you’re ready for whatever adventure your late morning brings. Not into florals? Go for soft colors in blush, lilac, or sea-foam green. These updated hues will have you feeling so fresh and light in your yoga practice. You will be inspired to go for that Crow pose or a headstand in no time.

A bodysuit paired under leggings or joggers reminds me of a ballet leotard. The strappy detail on the back adds a high end luxe touch to elevate your look in barre class. Wrap yourself in a cozy cardigan that drapes the body before and after your studio session.

Update your gym hair with some shiny satin scrunchies in sophisticated and romantic hues from LOFT. Try a printed hair scarf from Amuse Society with your ponytail.

I hope this post inspired you to leave your old oversized tee behind to pop some romantic hues and details into your next class session. Comment below on what you liked! Until next week friends – you won’t want to miss what we found for next week’s post!
